Overview

I worked with Pathways, a company that creates EPD software for ready-mix concrete producers, to create some graphic representations of work flows, and other data all while adhering to their branding guidelines.

Process

For many of these deliverables there were assets that they had, but wanted dialed into their current branding guidelines. I did redesigns for some of the flow charts to have them be in a portrait orientation, as well as flow well for ease of following the process. The EPD requirements timeline was the item I had the most creative freedom with. They wanted the information to feel bold and easy to catch the eye, to bring clarity to the message that requirements are becoming more prevalent in more and more states and territories, to convey the message that this software will make a bigger and bigger difference for their customers every year. The final 3 images are of a EPD outline that they would make a fillable form. I was also given a lot of freedom with the typography, layout, and design of this document as well. I would take notes on what the team was looking for, and then create some preliminary sketches of what the outline of the designs could look like, before beginning items that I was redesigning or designing from scratch.

Insights

These freelance projects gave me a great perspective on working with clients on deliverables that would range from just a few simple tweaks in some of the design aspects, to creating something from the ground up, all while keeping to consistent branding guidelines. I really enjoyed the process of creating a first draft and getting feedback from the client on what tweaks they wanted to make to bring their vision to life. I enjoyed seeing the process of how things would progress, and I especially loved when the client was pleased with the final draft of the designs.
